Am Samstag, 20. September, 18.00 Uhr, gibt es in der St. Lorenz-Kirche
ein Konzert mit Ausschnitten aus der Kantate "Herr Gott, dich loben alle wir"
von Johann Sebastian Bach.
Mit den Kantoreien von St. Lorenz und St. Markus und Sinfonietta Lübeck.

von 19.30 bis 20.45 Uhr im Kirchencafé
unter der Leitung von Birte Brunhoeber

Im Gottesdienst am 27. Juli 2025 hat die Kantorei
den 121. Psalm von Roland Ploeger (1947) gesungen.

Die St. Lorenz-Kirche ist eine neugotische Kirche direkt hinter Lübecks Hauptbahnhof. Die Pestepidemie im Jahre 1597 machte den Bau eines Armenfriedhofes und eines Pesthauses außerhalb des Holstentores notwendig. Die 1669 geweihte Kapelle musste um 1900 einer größeren Kirche, der heutigen St. Lorenz-Kirche, weichen.

The present St Lorenz Church was built in the New Gothic style at the end of the 19th Century on a site directly behind Lubeck’s main railway station. It was consecrated for service in 1900. The original reason for a church in this part of the town lies in an outbreak of plague in the year 1597. The present site, outside the walls of the old city, was chosen as a cemetary for the poor and also for the building of a quarantine facility, described in German as a Pesthaus.
St Lorenz itself originates in the construction of a small chapel in 1669, which as time passed became too small for the church’s growing congregation.
